Ukrainian football players have for several years attended the annual tournament for veteran football players, last weekend of January. (www.veterancup.no) The tournament takes place in Laerdal, Norway.
The players are involved in the war in different ways, as soldiers, several as volunteers for the army in areas like Donetsk and Kherson. They have received special permission to visit Norway and relay information concerning the current conditions in Ukraine.
In conjunction with this tournament, the fundraising campaign “Football for Ukraine” was launched. The campaign is a symbolic helping hand from the international football family to a country and people facing a dire emergency.

The fundraising campaign is officially supported by the Norwegian Football association

All collected funds are donated to humanitarian purposes in collaboration with organisations already established within Ukraine. Food, clothes, power generators, medical supplies and ambulances are examples of how the money will be spent. The first ambulances have already been sent to Ukraine.

The campaign has Sogn Sparebank (www.sognbank.no) as bank partner, Økonomiservice AS as accountant and PwC as external auditor. The campaign will be executed according to all rules and regulations for such campaigns in Norway.

As part of the campaign, there was a solidarity concert in Lærdal on Thursday, January 26th. Official representatives from Ukraine and Norway was present.
